Joel is concerned with the health and wellbeing of all our residents. As a Deputy Chief with the Phoenix Fire Department during the pandemic, Joel saw many things that we got right, but also things we need to improve on—for example, providing clearer public health guidance for schools, workplaces, and businesses. He wants to take the lessons learned during that difficult time to the Board of Supervisors to improve the health of everyone in Maricopa County.

As a candidate for Board of Supervisors, District 1, Joel pledges to:

• Provide county grants to local nonprofits and faith-based institutions working to improve the health of our communities

• Work with our local school districts and empower parents to be partners in addressing the mental health crisis affecting our youth

• Utilize outreach, case management, and housing programs for individuals and families experiencing homelessness
